    Hi all..

I am looking at the week after 1st October - China National Day.... probably from 6th October onwards... (read thats the best periods for this route)

I am still in the planning process... mostly probably will be travelling in this sequence :

    成都 - 康定 - 新都桥 - 理塘 - 稻城

    稻城 - 新都桥 - 塔公 - 八美 - 丹巴 - 四姑娘山 - 卧龙 - 都江堰 - 成都

If there's other interested travellers, we could rent a vehicle for this trip, if not, i will be travelling on their public transport....

I am reading thru this website for my planning purpose...

    老李亲创—2011版夏季川西稻城出发旅游攻略宝典-稻城旅游网

What other periods are you guys looking at ?

    Cheers

    Hi Picke & all,

I am very interested to go but at the moment Oct this year may not be the best time for me but I will keep in mind in case there is a change in my schedule. In case you do change your plan please let me know that my friend and I may be able to join you.

    Thanks in advance.

Red face Re: 亚丁 - October 2012

    Hi Picke,

Thanks for the reply and this is good at least I know if my plan of going there in mid year fell through I still can join the October trip if that option is still available to me.

Is it possible to share with me the travel itinerary, number of day and likely travel cost.

    Thanks in advance.

Just to point out... The first week of October is Golden week in China. This is where more than half the country is out travelling. Not only is it difficult to secure air and train tickets, everything else will be expensive too. This is especially so in the last two days of the Golden Week, as every Chinese will be rushing to get back to work. I will advice you to plan your set off date for a few days later to avoid having a big headache.

Last year, been there the first two weeks of Oct,
feel that lack of autumn colour, many trees are still green,
maybe one more week would have been better.

Sometimes snow at early in the morning, the temperature can imagined. at Ya Din Village accommodation are all set up by Tibetan,
Most of the rooms like barracks with dozens of people sleeping in the tablet bed, no heating, no hot water, toilets are the most primitive kind.

In fact, the temperature are secondly, altitude sickness is the most terrible ones
(not kidding at that kind of altitude for activities, hard times than the recruits trained).
In our group someone required emergency hospital treatment.

Best to wear waterproof and hooded jacket (Like this : North Face Men's 3 in 1 Jackets- For reference only not to advertise ),
shoes should be non-slip and waterproof.

My personal choice is 1.XinDuQiao, 2. YaDing 3. Daocheng.

Pace yourself and don't get over zealous when you see beautiful scenery. You should have enough time to shoot if your trip is customised for photography. Start your training now, do some trekking and exercise regularly. When you are there, have enough rest, eat well, keep yourself warm and don't all sick.

    Albertsim said is right.

Most of the Chinese climbers take 红景天 to mitigation and prevention of altitude syndrome.
We also start taking it one week before our departure. can buy it from 裕华 department stores.

    Hi KS,

    Thanks for the beautiful photos.
Is June/July a good time to travel to these places.
Could you suggest a route from Chengdu -> ...XinDuQiao, Daocheng, Yading....-> Chengdu for 10 to 14 days trip.
    Thanks in advance.
