Default the eternal wait

Trying something new. 'Painted' the sky (after the sea/horizon) black, to give a sense of a 'dark future' ... and the man is in eternal wait ... err don't know if it works ... do give your views ...

i think graduated would be better. Too abrupt now. Feels like you cropped the top off.

I think add more texture into the ground in front of the person, and put a pic of the earth in the background.... Hehe...

Anyway, I like the effect, but perhaps do show a little more background because the black doesn't seem to quite work here...

thanks guys for the opinions & ideas. well i actually started with something more 'gradual' ... then suddenly thought of going to the extreme by cutting off the 'sky' and 'paint' it black yeah, pure dark future that is guess that doesn't work well

cheers

Haven't seen the original but the black works for me as an abstract piece. It goes with the shadows formed by the bench. The first I saw it was as if the man was sitting on a park bench on top of a hill at night with a single source street lamp illuminating some the middleground. Really like the composition.

what if this same pic is taken with wide angle lens? to give the edges a rounded + blur feel.. It will distort the sea line to become abit roundish at the ends and give the sense of sitting at the edge of the world?
just some tots..

i like the feel by the way, but think dark dark grey rather than black may work better.. oh.. more noise may work too... 2cents
