Nice low light shots of the Pasar Malam.
Thanks JK. All shot wide open, so pardon me if the dof for few shots are too shallow

FA31ltd. This shot convinces me thats its worth the switch from the FA35.
I really like this one too! Either you're a better photographer than you let on... or this lens is MAGIC! probably a bit of both i guess!

The subject just seems so 3D & really stands out from the background. any cheaper lens in your experience can do this? this is not very healthy for my wallet...

Thanks, just a lucky shot for me.

To me, the main thing the 31ltd has over the FA is a smoother bokeh and micro-contrast, though I've not had it long enough to be very concrete over these random observations.
I suspect FA35 to be able to do this as well, though I've not shot that much candids with it to be sure.

I've not shot enough candids with one focal length to be sure very sure which lens does it more.
Off the top of my head,

    FA43ltd is another candidate.

I've seen K24/2.8 do it as well. Even stopped down between f3.2-4, though DOF is much more, so the effect of apparent sharpness is not as pronounced.

I'm quite sure though that FA77ltd is well able to do this.
M85/2 as well, but MF and sometimes let down by the CA or hazing in very bright conditions (even then I love this lens a lot)

    Can never have enough lenses

    I dream of Jenie

Probably the uniquely odd catch for me for street shots for this trip.
Pretty Ang-Mo lass in skimpy attire; looking out the window from a shop house in Meleka on a moody morning.... man... what are odds.. like striking Toto.

This is really an eye catching shot...good job.

Iman...You are really good with the 50 f1.2. You let me try it at the coffee shop at dinner and it was really difficult.

Thanks Andrew, it was hit and miss initially, but I can always do chimping and retake the shot again

    Pasar Malam shots.
After a whole day lugging around gear, its really refreshing to just switch to a K5+DA40XS.
So unencumbering a setup to use.

I even eyed a young DSLR using lad running ahead of me to spy on what camera I was using with "no lens"

So happy that this one worked out, so excuse me for posting the mosque shots here again.

    K5; DA15ltd; Vectorma using 2 horizontal shots.

1st try at a manually done vectorama using 2 horizontal single exposure shots.
Earlier attempts were with Hugin, which refused to link the frames due to keystone distortions,
Photoshop pano may be more intelligent, but have very tried it, since I don't have CS4.

Hi JK, this last pax of the shopkeeper is sooo exceptional, very three-dimensional
