Default flash for D7D

hi guys , i am very tempted to get a D7D ... just need to ask ... is the D7D able to trigger the 3600HS(D) wirelessly with TTL without attaching any extra trigger device? (what i am trying to say is it wireless TTL trigger from body?)

3600 has wireless feature. Just set the flash & D7D to wireless mode.

It can trigger the 3600 wirelessly just using the onboard flash.

Cheers!

I am thinking of switching to digital too. Wireless flash is not a problem with Dynax 7D. But what about the ratio flash? is the D7D able to perform the 1/3 off camera and 2/3 WL flash juz like my Old film Dynax? If D7D can do this, I am really going digital...

It can't do ratio flash. Have to set manual flash power to achieve what used to be done automatically.

Cheers!

I'm afraid that the wireless will not work if you are using a bracket. When the 3600/5600 is switched to wireless mode, the red plastic cover has to be facing or in line-of-sight with the camera's built-in flash.

The wireless mode is not using radiowaves but triggered by the camera's built-in flash.

True for some flash brackets. It's still better to use a offshoe cord in case the flash can't pick up the signal. 60 bucks investment to save those shots.

Cheers!

You can use the flash's AF illuminator when you use the offshoe cord.

Cheers!

Hiee...

Well....for the minolta wireless flash.......line of sight (100%) is not really neccessary.....Here is an example of where a room illumination was made using the wireless flash in one of the cells in alcatraz.....i simply put a 5600HS with the flash on the inner right wall out of direct flashing from the cameras on board flash.....but wnough reflected light for triggering....

here is the result......The room was i total darkness no light bulb....but wallah.....with the wireless flash handy......it looks otherwise.....

on the part of using bracket with flash on the left......i used to use this method with success......no need cables....some practical limitations depending on shoot....

Cool, so basically the flash (3600/5600) needs to catch the camera's built-in flash to activate, but provided the light bounced back. If there's no wall anything to bouce the light, the flash will not be triggered.

That's why its less effective at outdoor.. and need line of sight to work..

Default Can 5600HS be used for Minolta Digital cameras?

Hi

I was wondering if the 5600HS flash can be used for the new Minolta Digital camera, like the D7D, A1, A2, A200?

What is the difference between the 5600HS and the 5600HS(D)?

I am concern if I upgrade to a Minolta Digital camera, my old flash cannot be used anymore.

Thanks for your advise.

Yes, it can be used with all new Minolta digital cameras since Dimage 5 onwards.

All xi model flashes and earlier do not work.... only the 3600 and 5600 and 2500 works with the 7D

Well, all you really need to do is put a piece of small white card on your camera when in-built flash is raised, then the white card will transmit the info to the flash that is on the bracket above it...

It works for me... but if you have extra $$$ it is worthwhile to get the cable.

Does it save a lot of battery power? Cos I thought it only needs a pulse of light of the right frequency and coding.

it doesn't matter. it still uses the flash bulb which still requires power. worse, its using full flash power since it don't even know where is the wireless flash.
