pros - VR, good range, solid built and AF-S cons - not yet found 2. HotSpots Pro - Good walk-about range, great image quality (except when wide open), well-balanced, VR works like a charm. No complaints 3. Dennis Pro - Good range with VR, SWM, good build. Cons - soft at WA, slow, not wide enough for DSLR 4. Staz Pro - Good Range, fast focusing. love the vr as well. soft image at 5.6 makes it good for taking portraits too. 5. Kerpalz Pro - Good range with VR, SWM, good build. the cheapest VR u can find!!! Cons - cannot find... unless comparing the AFS VS USM hahaha 6. rtbh Pro - good range for walkabout, swm and vr. yup! cheapest nikon lens with vr and swm. Cons - would be better with f2.8 thru out and yet still maintain at this price. 7. kajun liu pro - good color n contrast, great range, n say good bye to shaky hand cons - not sharp 8. ckbekeong just got this lens today from my cousin pros: The VR and SWM works like a charm... say goodbye to handshake cons: have not discovered any yet... 9. mugenzim pro - well build, made in Japan, swm, fast focusing, VR cons - a bit heavy |

Got it for 850 new, local warranty, used it extensively on a 2 week trips through M'sia. Makes u lazy to change to other lens. pro- AF pretty decent speed, sharp at longer range.seamless auto-manual mode, solid feel. con- WA not wide enough and not cosistent, compromise battery life, VR not as effective as those on 80-400 VR....tried a friend's 80-400, it's VR was so amazing. Positioning of Focus-zoom rings. __________________ Last edited by Danntbt; 22nd January 2005 at 02:46 PM. |

Now I'm tempted to get this VR 24-120 mm! It is by far a lot cheaper than my other dream lens:
1) 17-35 mm f2.8 2) 12-24 mm

Cons: Its not wide enough, like what Jamestan mentioned, it would be good if it was a 18-125 instead. |

If the VR is on when using flash, I find that it slows down a little, not sure does other users find that too
. But generally Its a fine piece of glass ..... |
