sound like SPF want to have real action by kidnappers, then can alert public..

my question is will it be too late before a child is gone.. by the time a report is made, and SPF has stepped in?? thought they have been emphasizing citizen on being more proactive...

btw, nobody commented if there is any report made

One is an unverified account meant to spread fear and panic, the other is a very real threat that most people here turned a blind eye to.

Aiyoh bro, please dont torture us with the 2nd video lah, we the reluctant captive audience have seen it so many times its utterly nauseating! Very simple, if we say it, we are alarmist, if they say it they are proactive...

All if us have been using the internet for god knows how long.... didn't you all notices how rumors get spread... didn't recently there was a posting here that saids a coup is on the way in China and 'witnesses' claim they saw military vehicle surrounding the city. That rumor started in China and got posted here by our own ClubSNAP-er. So what was the outcome... the rumor turned out to be false... and China arrested many for spreading false rumor.

Its always good to be on the look for kidnappers and child molester... with or without hearing news from the internet... and frankly, the internet has more fake information than most other news source. But Police can't act on every case when someone is more willing to post on the internet instead of reporting it to the police.

kidnapping? most can relax, sit back and read the news...

Oh well, sometimes there cannot be smoke without fire. Delve deeper beyond the surface and you might just uncover a couple of legendary gemstones amongst the abyss of eternal fecal matters that have the potential to shake heavens above.

Oh look, the imperialist and at times controversial BBC is spreading rumours again linking a prominent Bai Shou Tao (white glove) death to Bo Xilai. Hmm...

I will agree with the "cannot have smoke without fire" part.... but its not as if the police is dismissing the case. And the police is also not telling public not to speak of the matter... but advice public not to circulate "Online Posting"... and as we all know, there is seldom a way to verify if at all a "Posting" is accurate or even true. Anyone remember that "Chop Children's Head to Built Bridge" rumors in the early 80s... I do, was kept at home for 3 months for nothing... why, because parents are freaking out from the rumour.

The terrorism video is made because we were nearly bombed by members of JI... and we are still paying taxes to keep them fed under ISA. So.. to compare the video (which is based on FACTS) and those 'Online Posting' (which we have yet able to verify) as 'double standard'... is simply wrong.

With the 3-4 cases circulated online, not a single parent catch hold of the stranger n call the police .Don't you find it strange as this will be the first thing to do especially after the 2nd case ? They just let the stranger walk away... With the much publicise story now, a shout out will attract people in shopping mall to assist in the apprehend of the perpetuator.

For all those we still feel that its your 'DUTY' to help spread this Kidnapping Rumors... read this

Police investigating 5 persons for spreading false kidnapping info - Channel NewsAsia

That is why we should take precaution... but not overreact. The internet is full of information... both True... and Untrue. So stop think that the Police should investigate ever rumors that ever pop up on Facebook or Stomp. Don't come here and blame our man in blues for not doing their jobs when there are no truth to the reports.

And luckily someone deleted his/her own posting with a certain 'Word' before I could take action....

It means they have not yet charged them with an offence. Maybe they will. Who knows. The rumours do spread unnecessary panic among the impressionable. Was in a supermarket few hours ago and saw a mother admonishing her young daughter (probably 4 years old) that she must hold on to her (the mother's) hand at all times.

But then again I have heard on more than one occasion over a shopping centre PA that a child is found and will the parent (must be engrossed with shopping) please come to counter to claim the child.

Therefore, before the investigation is complete or at least... a case or two, had been confirmed... don't go around saying nobody is doing their job... or before a certain deletion... "minis**r sit and read newspaper".

Take personal responsibility by teaching your own love ones not to follow stranger and to stick close to a known adult. Yes... I know little children are hard to control, but since they are yours... the primary responsibility to protect them is yours and yours alone. Spreading rumors and causing unnecessary panic is pointless.... spreading fake news like those people currently "helping in Investigation" will be a good warning to those who think this is funny.

Don't forget.... while S'pore in no where near 'crime-less'... one or two unrelated kidnapping is possible. But the current 'news' seems to suggest that we are having a kidnapping epidemic... with difference group of people graping kids off the streets and malls...

Please lah people... our kids are stress enough as it is... don't add some more fear to their little life...
