You wanna joke can, but make sure TS knows it's a joke...

D3x has been superceeded by D800 / D800E at a fraction of its cost.

hahah, yes I'm sure everyone would buy the d3x, or d4, if money wasn't an issue.

Oh well, yea, I think ultimately, since the 7D and D7000 are rather evenly matched, I'll just go for the lower cost option, i.e. the D7k, for now.

I guess you have decided on crop body. I would suggest to use the one you are more comfortable with, which brand doesn't matter as long as you can control your gear well. Don't bother if the lens or camera has been used for NASA or space. The iq between two brands of the same range will not make a major difference to photography.

Ultimately Canon and Nikon should be able to keep pace with each other more or less, so id D7000 has the edge now some time in the future some Canon body will have the edge.

Investigate the system, lenses, speedlights, remote control, etc.

I am a Nikon user and not familiar with Canon, so I'll say go with Nikon.

Speaking of speedlite, do note that current Canon is taking the lead with its radio triggered speedlite. Though costly, but that's the way canon has decided to move. I'm a Nikon user btw, not that I like the price tag or features (I do not know enough of canon speedlight technology), but Canon has decided to listen and response to the market, not affordable but yah, they had changed.

    I vote Pentax Q.

On a more serious note, try them both out and buy whatever fits your hand better.

I've heard that Nikon CLS is superior to Canon's Speedlites, but looks like Canon is really catching up quickly or perhaps surpassing Nikon now

    Got the D7000
I felt that I didn't really need the higher FPS of the 7D, and was kind of sold by the lower price of the D7k, slightly better ISO, and the lighter weight body!
Now that I've settled this vexing issue of which brand to get, time for more important things... like.. lenses

Actually, D7000 and 7D are already different class of camera. But don't worry, Nikon bros here will take care of you (and your wallet )

And joneeee, D7k is a lovely camera. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Congrats! I think good glasses are more important than the body.

As I have mentioned and so have the rest, bodies come and go but good glass is a must and they are relatively timeless.
