7D : THM file usage.

While searching for something else, happen to come across this one..

THM file is more or less a jpeg file. So if you shoot RAW only, you can use THM file to view in the window explorer without special tools. All you need is to run this registry update taken from thread above.

p.s. I've runned the update, but have not tested it.

Edit: Removed 7D from subject title, assuming 7x/Ax also have THM file? Then it should be applicable as well.

Hi there,

I shot in raw only before. And aft that I transferred all my photos to my PC... and all the raw photos turned out there is a complimentary file, very very much smaller in size. And I checked thru the property of them, it shows ACDSEE Raw Format Viewer (or someting close to that meaning, can't remember the exact description)... each of them is less than 20k in size... Is this similar to the one that you registered in your registry syst.?

i face this problem also.
the reason behind is that u are using the Camera's in built Adobe RGB. try NOT to use this, use the 2 SRGB and u won't have this problem.

those THM and "raw 20kb" files, u can delete and u won't lose any details.
