Default New decision- maids cannot apply for PR in HK

Hong Kong court overturns ruling allowing maids to seek residency - CNN.com

Who was the idiot who ruled in their favour in the first instance?

Now the Hong Kong Court of Appeals finally got it right.

Well, HK holds the final trump card. If the final Court of Appeal also agree they can apply for PR, then maybe HK can do this:

    1) Terminate all the maids' contracts, send them ALL back to their country of origin, with immediate effect. Pay the compensation if it is stated in the contract. Allow only half of the original number to re-enter, to send a message that this is the consequence.

    2) New applicants who apply to be maids in HK after that have to sign a contract by law that they WILL NOT apply for PR. Otherwise cannot enter.

    3) In addition, the contract can only be for 2 years, non-renewable. They MUST go back (and cannot re-enter again until 6 months later) and leave HK after a maximum 2 year stay failing which they are considered illegal overstayers and be jailed.

because HK has such a huge pool of FTs , they should just make this a 'silent quota' policy

Finally, something make sense. Try implimenting this at Westen side or euro. The govt and people will slam you right up the face. Anyhow give PR/ citizenship to any FT, this will cause a disturbance in the country.

the Singapore's way? .... haha, my company always facing this "silent quota" policy, no matter how you explain and defense through long letters, the replies are always the same standard duplicated letter-reply! Don't even try looking for a meeting with an officer from any government departments! haha. Same goes with my foreign maid .....

Some of these FW are getting too smart for their own good, demanding their rights in this & that. They forgot they are but guests working in the host country & their enployment is but on a temporary, renewable basis. Hearing some "noise" from FTs in our own backyard, I trust our government took the necessary pre-emptive actions to prevent such situation from arising here...

FT now become FW FW I assume is foreign worker?

BTW, what's Singapore policy when a child is born in SG by FT who is not a PR? The child can choose to be SG PR by birth in SG or not? Don't say don't let the FT have a BF/GF/Husband/Wife, lock them back to their house when they not working (heard this comment from call-in in radio talk show previously).

Something similar to HK situation where some PRC mums going to HK to give birth so that the child can be a HK PR.

Similar thing happened in my previous company few years back. An ex colleague was eligible for S-pass but somehow kept getting rejected without a clear reason. Finally my manager fed up and brought along our ang mo boss to meet MOM officers.

And my ex colleague got the S-pass

I think before China takeover pregnant women from HK also went to Canada to deliver babies there so to secure citizenship for the babies and themselves.

when i was in HK. i see some cafe employing mainland worker from Guang zhou; well that is inevitable since HK is part of China . if pinoy maid were to be converted to PR, they could possibly hack the rice bowl of many HongKonger.. think they see this loophole, and they plug the hole before the damage is irreversible.. far-sight they have

over in hongkong, i see hongkong ppl working as sales-girl, cleaner, bus-driver, waiter / waitress, security guard, construction worker, etc. they are everywhere.. the industry protect the ppl of Hong Kong. that is what i envy this country Hong Kong..
