Default Does D7D have a backup batt in body?

i think most DSLR/SLR may have a 2032 or similar dry cell in the body to preserve the clock setting for the camera when we remove the camera batteries.

i encounter twice, not once but TWICE, i took out both my batteries, and when i reinserted the batteries, the camera ask me to key in the date & time again...

Huh?! I always removed all the batt. (as in the NP-400) before I stored inside my Dry Cabi ler, but never encountered such situation... and they were like plenty of times already, not twice...

Well, I guess you could have gotten a set with a flat cell... You could always go get it checked/replaced at the Minolta Service centre. We are so fortunate to have it so conveniently located in town.

Default Looks like a bad super-cap in your camera

Hiee....

It looks like the super cap in your camera is bad. This super cap(actually a capacitor)... take the place of the battery for maintaining supply to the non-volatile ram.
May last upto a ~few days in some systems without main batteries on.

If yours just keeps asking for date and time....then the super cap may need replacement...

well, technology has evolved... no longer internal round cell to run the power, capacitor that is... thanks Sulhan for the pointer...

Just encounted this problem and found the cause.

The camera has some activity after the switch is flicked to off which makes the card activity LED turn on for a while. During this time if you take the batteries out, you will reset the clock in the body.

To avoid this, let the LED fade before taking out the batteries.

Cheers!
