Default 16-bit image can't be saved as jpg?

Anyone here use RAW conversion into 16-bit images? I noticed they can only be saved in TIFF, .psd etc. Any way to do so in jpg after all the editing?

Thanks.

Convert to 8-bit, then can be saved in jpg. Coz jpg is basically a 8-bit image for each R, G, B colour.

I think only Jpeg2000 is 16bit. Save the edited file as PSD or tiff then open with Irfanview (can't believe its still FOC!) and save it as Jpeg2000.

Strangely there is not much support for Jpeg2000 yet. Web browsers cant open it. So if you want the pics to be used online you still have to use normal jpeg.

Why save a 16-bit image in a lossless JPEG format? Remain in TIFF if you want the extra bits of information a 16-bit image provide...
