Don't think it's drop, the initial announcement is always high to be on the 'conservative' side. No one will complain if the actual selling price is lower than the initial released price, but definitely not higher.

What I really missed most, is my first SLR. An Olympus OM2 with the Zuiko 35mm f/1.4, back in 1982!

more a case of... 'crap Canon is going to outsell us with their 5D3 so we better match their price'.

in which case, people sitting on the fence can choose between high MP/resolution vs clean ISO + high fps.

Actually, in pretty much every market, the Canon 5D III is more expensive than both D800s. Moreover, the D800 comfortably outranks the 5D III in the amazon pre-order charts.

    Guys,

    I checked with my sources.

The actual price for D800 will finally settle at $3500 - $3600.
At current , the market price will just hover at $4400 to $4100

The price you see in the market now are not the true pricing .

If you can wait, please wait.
    Not now.

That's more like the sane price that they should be selling..... but with loads of insane people around, they need to sell at insane prices....

3,000 usd is equivalent to 3,800 sgd

    Maybe 3,800-3,900 is more accurate.

    1.26 exchange rate.

Yup, from experience, D700 hovered at 300 below rrp for like 1 to 2 years? Why should the d800 price drop so fast?

    $4100 = 9 mths later

Nobody knows, it's just a guess. Who knows what lies ahead.
