Just out of curiosity, how much of an impact do you think D7D has on KM's market share on DSLR market? At least amongst CS folks, I don't see a significant group of non-KM users switching to KM. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Throwing the net even wider. I'll like to ask folks who frequent Dpreview, what do you think is the impact of D7D on the international DSLR market? Maybe its still early days yet...

I like this fellow remarks..

Price – there are cheaper, equally capable 6MP DSLR’s available. A monopod is cheaper and more effective.

Tell that to IS/VR/OS users.. they are spending big bucks for stabilizer.. Sorry, just kidding..

C'mon this reviewer is kidding or what? If he can carry his monopod everywhere anytime, and extend his monopod, and position his camera on awkward position with his monopod, get all these done as fast as switching on the AS switch.. I will agree with him.

To answer your question, Colin.. there are Nikon and Canon users switching to Minolta for 7D. At least I know a handful of them already.. 2 strong selling point about 7D.. Ergonomics/Design and AS, that what attracting them.

(That's what attracting me too.. )

Just to add on..

7D alone won't be able attract a lot of new comers or make Nikon or Canon user to switch, especially at this price point.. KM need to work on new lenses, probably flashes and more bodies to beef up the system to keep up with the competition.

Haha... That's not possible. Even strobes need time to recharge. But I know what you mean, especially when you cover events. You'll just have to know your system well, use faster iso or wider aperture so that your flash can recover faster. I've tried that and it works well.

If you are that desperate for flash recharge, then you'll have to carry those big battery packs those experienced photographer do.

Since we're on this subject, I'm wondering if those hammerhead flash, do they have a much shorter recycling time.

Actually, your statement is very true. That's why I think the new Canon/Nikon users may consider switching, before they have a stable of VR/IS lens. Its less costly for them since their 2nd hand lens value is not too far off from their cost price.

my opinion is dun use a 1:1 flash rate if you are shooting, to reduce the recharge time & battery changing time. compare a low end & high end flash, a high end flash recharge faster than a low end flash with both the same amount of batteries.

Default KM's official D7D website

You probably have found this if you read KM's Photo World.
A very impressive site indeed.

Well, as for lenses, there are excellent 3rd party lenses out there for the picking. So, no problem here. Me a Nikon user, and there ain't that many VR lenses to choose from against Canon's IS lenses. So, a KM dSLR would solve all that problem in one single coup. And considering those VR lenses that cost a bomb, the D7D is pretty affordable considering the AS.

My wish for Christmas is a Nikon dSLR with VR on the sensor arriving in 2005, even if it's for next Christmas.

I agree with you.. I'm one who have half my collection from 3rd party. But given a choice, I still prefer Minolta lens.
