Wanted to check if anyone's used Elinchrom 500 with EOS-10D using the PC terminal before?
The general understanding (though not documented) is that trigger voltages > 6V can damage the 10D's electronics but I've read of people who have used Metz 45CT-5 with the 10D without experiencing problems. This flashgun's sync voltage is about 24V I think... The Elinchrom 500's documented sync voltage is 12V

According to the discussions there, both the hotshoe/PC terminal are "technically" susceptible to this voltage problem because Canon is kiasu and states that up to 6V is supported. People have tested it with variable power supplies that show that it can even go up to 24V! Good discussion...thanks! ![]()
