50% sounds pretty decent. Doubt you'll have issues with fungus growth over 3 months, especially if you make use of your gear
look forward to seeing your photos!

South Africa is like Australia, Winter time in June, July August, the humidity will be lower, but other months will hit about 70%.

hi i have a question here about akarui cabinet.. i just bought 1 few days ago.. i did read some post before about open up the door to hit the room humidity then close back up..so i try it and double check with another cheapo hydrometer but this 2 given me 2 different reading ..

    akarui hum lvl - 60%
    others cheapo hydrometer lvl - 70%+ 1 or 2%

so i wondering if my akarui meter is spoilt or what ?
    any suggestion ?

    Thanks in advance..

Do a salt test on your hygrometer and see which one is accurate.

    How to calibrate your hygrometer

Is it ok to put camera strap in dry cabinet, I guess it has got the sweat and salt

Will it fuel the fungus ?

It will not "fuel the fungus" since the dehumidifier will dry it anyway. Just take note of the smell

i have no idea. i read from other places with people saying that its inadequate to keep the dslr in the cabinet just like that adn should add those silicone gels. but i kinda think its like overdoing it , so just checking !

A dry cabinet is designed to regulate the humidity inside. If you have those digitally controlled ones, the precision is even higher.
Therefore it stands to reason that adding silica gel to the cabinet will not be beneficial in any way. If it is dryer than the set humidity, the cabinet will simply "take a break"

Anyway, anything between 35% to 65% should be good enuff for the equipment and lenses in the dry cabinet. Is it so impt to take note of a 10% difference between yr dry cabinet reading to yr digital hygrometer ready?
