Default Help! My Minolta A1 CCD went bonkers!!

Anyone out there encounter the same problem? My A1 CCD went kaput on me. Went to KM service center and was told that they can only have it repair by next JAn. Anyone out there ever encounter this CCD issue??

Is it due to AS, shaking the CCD too hard.

Is this statement for real and on technical basis? Or it is only meant for a joke?

Well... anyway, electronics will fail eventually, and there's always 5% out of the 95% normal distribution ...

And since it's the CCD, not some other component... we should be complaining about the CCD maker as KM don't make it's own CCD... So, i think we should say the line: It's a Sony~

Yeah. My 7Hi CCD blinked out on me too. It happens. Fine one moment, nothing the next.

Was at the KM service center as my 7i spoiled due to other reason. Was surprise that a lot of A1, 7Hi got their CCD replaced as the guy keep calling the customer about collecting their camera.

Been told that if your CCD spoil, need to wait as they come in a batch and they don't keep it in local.

FYI, CCD for D7D is around 600-700.

Your D7D is just like your rifle during the NS time. Must treat it like your wife.

CCD of any digital camera is bound to go bonkers sooner or later, just like the shutter or flashbulb, although I would guess the CCD won't last as long as the former 2. Its only a matter of time. Yes, the CCD is probably the single most expensive component you'll need to replace in a digital camera, short of damaging other less probable electronics of the cam.

definitely the most expensinve. a friend of mine had a S2pro and the CCD went bonkers.. the quoted price for a new CCD is $1500.. might as well by a new DIGICAM!! .. now i'm a bit put off with DSLR .. depend MORE on my SLR..
