Is Dimage A2 End-of-Sale

Am thinking of buying an A2 for myself. Dun really like the A200 'cuase read that its a dumbed down from A2.

Some shops like Cathay told me that A2 is already end-of-life from KM, replaced by A200

But there are 2 other shops who told me they can still order A2 from KM, selling price ard SGD1,400.

Can anyone help to verify which is correct? Is A2 EOL? tks.

That's not true. Both A2 and A200 are current models.

I'm also in the hunt for a new A2. Yes, the A2 is supposed to be current model, but for some reason, it is INCREDIBLY hard to find in S'pore right now. I think I've must've checked out every shop from Scotts Road to Chinatown (yes, even the b*****d shops at Lucky Plaza). Found one shop near Chinatown MRT station, but they not willing to budge below $1600.

I've placed an order from MS Color, but I'm still waiting. Apparently KM side very slow to deliver. I wonder what's up with that. Sometimes I wonder if there's a conspiracy by KM to get would-be A2 users to get the D7D instead.

Looks like has to spread the net wider liao, maybe shld take a look in M'sia...

Also, www.dell.com still selling it for USD899 (last I checked couple of weeks ago) but thats expensive and requires additional freight charges.

It's been 3 days past the supposed "confirmed" delivery date, still no response from MS or KM. My hopes are fading fast...

If I can't get an A2, then no digicam for me liao. (Don't want an A200, and price aside, D7D would be overkill for me).

*sigh* I'll wait till after lunch today before I call MS again to check. I feel quite paiseh about calling so often, but I really can't stand being left in the dark for so long. KM! What are you doing, ley??!

Think about it: The Dimage 5/7/7i/7Hi/A1/A2 all got improved and better-featured down the line. Then suddenly the A200 comes as a downgraded, stripped-down A2. Obviously meant to create a wider gap between the A200 and the D7D so for A1/A2 users who want to upgrade, what options do they have?

The A2 (to my understanding) is supposed to be sold in tandem with the A200, but it seems quite obvious that the A2 is being quietly withdrawn.

Buy from BHphoto lor. Less than $1400 if I am not wrong. Too bad the Dynax 7 discontinue as I planned to buy after get the bonus.

Unlikely.. A2 and 7D is twice the price difference.. they are not even close.

Well, unless there will be a 5D coming along very soon which probably selling at $1700 + a kit lens. That's the conspiracy!

hmm... same like last year ppl talk about buying the F828 can get a 300D... but note, 1 is DSLR & 1 is Prosumer...

buying camera system is like buying gaming consoles, the console is cheap, the accessories & original games will kill you... same goes for camera system, the body is considered 'cheap' when compare to the price of all the lens & accessories you going to invest.

i also plan to backward integrate for a D7, den hold D7 & D7D together... hope to get a cheap 1, btw how much is 1 body only cost now?

I suppose on the plane, we can't use a digital camera for taking photos esp taking or landing, right? Esp taking off, sometime you encounter some beautiful sunset, you can't use your digital but since you got a film body and same len, you could.

On top of that, a film body as a backup if your digital one spoiled. Esp on those cold country and if your digital not working, a film is your life saver.

Too bad, no more production for the Dynax 7. Maybe order it and wait.

OK. KM FINALLY brought my A2 into MS Color. BUT they brought in the VC-7 instead of the BP-400!!! So now, will have to play another round of the waiting game again. KM says "tomorrow", but even MS ppl doubt it.

They say good things come to those who wait, but this is getting a little frustrating...
