This instalment is something less spectacular, an Intermediate Egret. Apart from size, my bird book says that black tipped bill distinguishes it from the Great Egret. In Singapore, its not that easy to get this sort of white detail because our light seems harsher (at least in my attempts at Sungei Buloh). 3rd shot a bit too centred, but no headroom to crop (pun intend) and maintain aspect ratio at the same time. |

The last shot reminds me of
"why does the chicken cross the road?" The BG is cool blue, very compatible with the nicely exposed bright whites. Maybe it's just my preference but whenever I come across a wadding egret in #3, I tend to frame it in a (top) corner facing my direction across the diagonal. I feel it gives the observer a sense of direction. Then again, the shot as presented is pleasant to my eyes too. Some cranes shots coming up next perhaps? ![]() |
