that is problem again. private hospital is operated by private limited who is running a business entity. a public hospital is a entity that exists to serve the public as it is set up with Tax payer's money.

if this is a trend then will see more like
    apply for HDB-BTO, pay a S$10-20 fees
go into the casino, pay S$100 fees
    change appointment, pay S$10 fine

Servicing the public doesn't mean wasting public money...

Like many has pointed out... while we aren't sure what is the 'real' reason behind the charging of $10 for a change in appointment... most agree that it could be due to people changing their appointment last minute or very often... making a mess of paperworks and having staffs waste time rearranging time slots for those effected. And that the $10 (not even enough for 2 Mac meals)... is used, to discourage people from making or changing appointment at a whim.

Why is it ok that public funds are wasted in doing extra paperworks ?? Even if the Public Hospital was setup using Tax Payer $$$... it doesn't mean that we should abuse it by wasting the time and resources of these hospital

We should stop having this "Using Grandfather's Account" mentality where we make use of a provided service without a care of wastefulness.

It was in respond to a similar question raised and someone explain it. I also watched a programme in one of Starhub channels where they test it by taking photo on CIA / FBI buildings. When they were stopped, they challenge the officers on the laws for such ban.

Maybe this web site can provide some guides. Singapore follow British laws, so does Australia.

I think in Singapore context. If the installation has a clear ban to prohibit photography, better to avoid it.

Actually $10 can buy 2 McValue lunch, with $1 to spare. But I think that's hardly the point

And I think I pointed out that if it is to discourage people from changing appointments last minute, the system could be much more flexible (have a time frame where patients can change appointments without being charged)

If I take a photo of a stranger in public, can I sell it?

I haven't eaten Mac in years too, but the posters are everywhere. I'm not exactly sure of the time period, but there's a lunchtime window where any extra value meal costs $4.50 (or is it only some of them, I'm not sure). At other times, yes, it's $6+ or $7+ depending on the "main course" I think.

I think a grace period like 3-5 working days in advance for change of appointment will be good. Anything less than 3-5 working days will not be entertain!

Of course should be more understanding for patient who have high risk and difficulties of moving around. I know a young boy age 15 have to go checkup every 3 days and he may have fits when moving around. So when that happens the appointment will be cancel and to re-visit for his next checkup.

Mother have to stay at home due to child condition and father with average income. Such re-appointment fee could have mount up to 150-200 a months.

For such case what is ur views?!

Yes... every cents does count... so, don't waste $$$ by changing appointment and at the same time, using up public money just to admin the paperwork. I have medical issue too... but I make sure when I book a date... I stick to it. And if I can't... will gladly paid the $10 because I wasted the time of the Doc and staffs...

For TS case... it might not be his fault... he is most likely a victim of this policy because of other Hospital users who kept changing dates.... but never the less... try your best to keep to the date you have booked... save yourself $10 and save the limited public funds...

I have a few co-worker who change their appointment according to how bad their work shift is... Good Shift, don't go for appointment, bad shift, must go to avoid work. One simple check up can change appointment 3 times... When ask "why keep changing dates"... answer - "Ok what... staffs are paid to work anyway..."

Non-subsidised patients, please complain all you want.

Subsidised patients, either stick to your appointment or get a new appointment a couple of months down the road.
