Default 20D - white balance correction + bracketing

Anyone using the new function (white balance correction + bracketing by using the graph display) on the 20D?

Kind to share your experience over here?

haven't tried yet. generally, I don't print straight from the camera, so I could always do post correction (or simple shoot in raw to begin with).

I was thinking not to use raw as it suck my CF memory fast. As well as need to be post processed which I think it is neccessary only when the white balance is really out.

There's must be some reason why Canon put this feature in? Request from users or just one of Canon innovative idea??

Bracketing is usually for testing and calibrating purposes. You should perform this test b4 you go into the battle field (shooting in jpg format).

Ok guys, thanks for your suggestion. So I presume it is a useless feature...

Yeah... I very much think so.

There are many use-less features in the 20D. "Use-less" not that they are lousy but extras that won't quite be used at all. For eg, the dial that has Portrait, Landscape, etc modes... Think Canon calls it the PIC mode? I wonder which 20D user will use them. Also, the b/w, sepia, etc selections.

On the contrary it would be useful to a studio photographer shooting JPEG.

For my own studio shooting, I can clear my CF(using raw) into my VAIO easily.

Hi kiwi2,

I must agree there. Can you believe that I didn't even realise they were there.
I have owned it for 2 months.
I must have noticed the PIC mode for a second or two I guess when I first got it .
But just now when I read your quote (above) I had to take a look to see if you were joking

Haha... U really didn't consciously see them?

I know they're there but I just wish they weren't! For such a semi-pro body, they should only have the P, Av, Tv, and M mode. And maybe reduce the price further? :P

Don't think you'll want to touch them if you're a somewhat experienced photographer using the "Creative" P, Av, Tv, M modes. I feel extremely helpless when I'm in the PIC modes...

Quite true, I never touch "Creative" P mode + PIC modes and I'm using only Av, Tv, M modes since I switch from Nikon FM2 to Canon EOS 10/100/5 12 years ago! For my EOS 620 & 3 do not have it which shown that they are more 'Pro' camera.

Conclusion: 20D is a >$3k 'prosumer' cam???!!!! Maybe we can use tape to cover the 'prosumer mode'.

I agree from your point but if Canon take out the PIC modes, this cam will cost us easily $5k for just to shown that it is mini. Pro. cam. This is their marketing strategy...

Personally, i never touched the PIC modes before due to the lack of controls, but the pic mode is really good for my frens to help me take photos of my gf and me or whenever im not shooting... kekeke... for the PIC modes, we all like to call it "idiot" mode.. lolx...
