Default Blurry pics

I've just gotten a 2nd hand Camedia C-720 camera (relative give away).

I'm trying VERY HARD to learn how to use this camera. Day shots are ok. But when it comes to night shots, zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Can someone advise me? I'm very new to photography.

For these 2 shots, I used Auto with flash. How come it turned out this way?

Should I :
a) Change the lens
b) Get a new camera

Pls advise.

unable to see the pics u posted, its giving error "unauthorised".

First turn the dial to "P" mode and shoot some pics and see how they turn out. In "P" mode the cam does all the work for you by setting aperture, shutter speed etc.

cheers

Most digi camera are not good at focusing under low light condition. Try focus on some area with obvious contrast, preferably with vertical "border". If that cannot be achieved, may be you could shine a torch to the area to aid the camera's focusing.

One other reason can think of is that you could have set to manual focus and taken the shots without setting to the appropriate range.

Cheers

i think its more of the low-light condition focusing, give it more time.
or just take to take more photos !

Look more like out of focus to me ...... notice it focuses itself on the bright lights behind on both 1st pic and 2nd pic .....

You got to be careful there ..... trust your eyes more then the camera's autofocus .

I pressed the button halfway for the camera to Auto focus. It focused correctly and then went back to blur. How?

Re the Macro mode, I will have to go back and check the camera tonight.

I actually pointed the [ ] at either my friends' face or shirt. Correct?

Get a tripod, mount it and turn your camera mode to backlight compensation mode (the mode with a head infront and star behind). Next turn on self timer to prevent any camera shake and you should have a clear picture.
