    Default Can recommend a 100hz 29" flat tv ?

I'm currently looking for a 29" CRT tv with 100hz progressive scan, but not sure which brand / model to get. Any tv experts our there can recommend which model and where to buy (since there are so many models out there nowadays) ? My budget is less than 1k. Thanks in advance.

Get a Sony with the 100hz ... you may wanna check out retail stores such as Audio House; it should be cheaper as compared to major stores like HN, Courts and Denki.

    Good luck!

The Jap/Korean TVs are capable of stunning clarity in the picture. Sonys especially render blacks convincingly.

HOWEVER, if you look closely, all these TVs are very obviously noisy in terms of motion rendering. This I cannot accept because if motion is imprecise, a subtle but essential connection into perceiving the emotion of a performance is lost.

My choice if you cannot afford a Loewe is the Philips 29PT9420 or similar.

I suspect how these models are better, at least in part, are due to a much higher speed that contributes to image fluidity.

bought it about 2 years ago from Best Denki IMM. Paid about S$1,400 together with 5 years extended warranty.

Till now, its performance still as new.
But, 1 thing, this box quite big and heavy. Came with DVD component, 4 AV in, and 1 VGA in. hmm... seems like this model has phased out, can't find at Panasonic web site, closet one is TX-34P150X

Thanks for all who replied. I finally decided on a Toshiba 29" with 100hz, HDTV ready and 2 DVD component input, and its within my budget. Cheers.

The model that I bought is 29JZ9UE. Around 830 including delivery. Hi casey, What bad experience did you have ? So far most of my friends are quite satisfied with the 29" models.

er... my one blew after 3 months. the fuse blew due to some parts faulty, not too sure.

and before that, there was some problems with the screen. Sometimes the screen might shake a bit, even when playing DVDs. After "repairing", it's ok now.

Thanks for your input. Well, I'm used to tv failing. My current Panasonic 29" 100hz model was serviced 5 times in the past 3 years (problems like no sound or image, unable to turn on etc). Unlucky I guess, hope I have better luck with the Toshiba. Do you remember which model you bought ?
