Default Fashion Fiesta 2004

wanted to share some pics from Fashion Fiesta organised by South East CDC Youth, featuring designs from young fashion designers and worn by non-professional models. Most are doing it for the first time, so spare your comments on the models. The lighting isn't fantastic and the models looked yellowish/orangey on the runway during the event, so I did some color correction.

There're 4 segments:

1. Gothic

2. Casual

3. Ethnic

4. Evening gown

More pics could be found here:
http://mpenza.clubsnap.org/gallery/secdc2004

I'll put up more when I have time.

All pics taken using a Canon EF24-85 which performed pretty well.

Actually, the best among all the photographers, though I would have preferred a slightly lower perspective cos the models aren't very tall. One of the official photographer later joined me side-by-side

I was there too, didn't manage to get the center position. This is my first experience in a fashion show.I would like to thank a veteran who was there the day before.Even though we had never met before,he came to me constantly and taught me alot of things to note in such an event.I am touch by his kindness.I hope I will able to aquire more help like his in the future.

just some few cents comments on your pics. all are technically good, with accurate exposure (except for #3 which looks a bit blown) and good colors.

#1 has potential. You might want to zoom in a bit more to isolate the head/shoulder and take the pic when the model is looking towards your direction.

#2 is quite messy in the composition. if you want to capture the rest of the dancers, move more to your right. else, it's kind of neither here nor there. also watch out for slants in the pic.

#3 is well taken. it's great that you captured some motion blur of the "windmill". it seems that the flash has either fired a little too strong or the camera's metering has resulted in a little overexposure of the face (due to the predmoniantly dark scene).

#4 is slightly slanted but otherwise, good expression and nicely captured pose.

This was not publicised and was held at MICA Building. Hadn't known the scale and size of event and actually didn't have the best equipment (70-200 would be perfect) for it.

Mpenza, can you help me with this? What is the difference in the older version of Nikon 60mm f2.8D micro and the newer version of today?Same for other brands...will there be any difference in the picture quality? Are there any other alternative lenses that you might want to recommend me?Thanks in advance.
