Default D70 compatible to SB28?

Hi all,
I know that SB28 TTL functions will not work on D70. But what about the A and M mode?

can be done on A, great! Thanks! So do you hv the aperture at SB28 bigger than the camera settings? So that the subject is brighter? I understand that D70 has the underexpo problem.

i am trying to minimise cost here. If my SB28 can be used, despite restricted functions on D70, I wouldn't want to spend extra cash on getting a SB600 or SB800.

I am using SB22 on A/M mode fine with my D70. Also do not have extra cash to buy another expensive flash.
Just have to control the aperture a little and the SB28 flash can be too bright for digital. Good luck.. see ya
