Just to share some pictures taken at the shows today. Was trying out some "portrait" shooting too.

Thanks for the compliments yup, quite a few familiar faces

lighting was suprisingly good. the glass panels of caltex house/change alley act as a gigantic diffuser

Actually....quite difficult to shoot with this kind of BG. Have you tried shooting wide open with the 100mm and 50/1.8? May not be enough.

yup. background is rather clutterred with some bright lights (that could possibly be PSed away ). it's one reason why I shot a bit more close-ups than usual. have shot close to wide-open but it only helps when the models are nearer the end of the runway close to us.

Yeah, right. One even chatted with ya...

You got the skin tones right today, better than the 2 days before. But metering maybe need to dial 1/3 stop down as the skin is slightly over, but have to say that the dark apparels seen today can throw it off easily.

guess knowing some of them helps too also, I was standing besides the official photographer.

I actually brightened the midtones a bit for today's pics. still not that used to color correction with my LCD monitor. sigh.

would be going down again tomorrow, hopefully earlier. see u there

The colours in my pictures are dull too. Guess it's due the ambience light and maybe the colour of their clothes (Designer don't flame me).

Mpenza, just dial down the exposure if you find it dull. Else bump up the saturation, but that can only help to a certain extent (and not clip certain channels).

Just remember, going down in exposure helps saturation. Of course don't do until grossly underexposure lar.

space constraint lah guess have to make do. one difficulty when editing with my current lcd monitor is that the color/tone changes quite a bit depending on the angle I'm facing the monitor. sigh.
