Slash D700 price to take away D800 sale after they invest on D800 new development ? Does it make sense ?
looking at the current demand, if international fora and news sites activities are indicative, Nikon will sell every D800 it can produce for some time to come... any cuts in D700 price, and in my post which was quoted, I said they would probably make a small cut, which is what appears to be happening, may help to clear stocks of the D700 that still exist...

from reports, Nikon is still producing D700 in Japan, the official reason being the D800 is not here to replace the D700, and that they will produce the D700 for as long as there is demand...

the speculated reason for the continued production of the D700 is that the breakdown in production last year due to the tsunami damage caused a stockpiling of D700 parts, and to clear that stock of parts, Nikon will continue production of the D700 for some time and will market the D700 at a lower segment of the market for some time till they clear their stocks at least (of course, they can't really say that in public can they, though I stress this is speculation)...

    does this make sense?

Without any deny Nikon make great products that is why there are so many users still sticking around, some even stick their necks out to defend the brand, but I really felt that we are all screwed over by how they try to sell and market the D800 product to us, and this is not the way to treat your customers. All have been said and done, probably it is time to move on. After all this is only a boy toy and not bread and butter, not worth losing sleep over or cry over spilled milk, Nikon Marketing have certainly helps turn the sweet anticipation of D800 into a sour one for many of us here.

In most case in 6 months all the bugs that were not caught would have been found and corrected. Being an early adoptee is being a you pay to be a beta tester. I see that most do not understand how businesses work. Nikon is a not a Singapore or M'sia or US market company is a global market company. There are are regions where there is more demand, there are regions with less plus there are regions where there is more competition for buyer dollars by other makers. A business would price lower in large volume competitive markets to ensure more sales and higher returns and price higher in regions where sale volume is lower to maximize profits.
It is all about profit. Traditional HK market is about 20 to 30% cheaper than Spore in terms of price - do not ask me why it just is; add this to fact HK sell more units than Spore probably means HK retailers will make more money even at those lower prices than Spore retailers.

It is never just about making you the con-sum-er happy, that needs to be done too but it is never similar to what your parents needed to do to make you happy as a child.

Wait one or two months maybe fire in your heart will calm down..

Then maybe will think actually no need pay extra to be the the first to use.

Then will realized actually now don't have also make no difference in your life. Only bank suddenly 4k plus disappear. Near to 100 piece of $50? Lol..

When not that gian, can think better. No need pay so much to show your pictures nice. Now you already have a cam that can take good pictures too.

Got then buy, don't have no need angry. Wait lor. Maybe you use d700 take pics then say d800 lor. Maybe no one will know? Lol..

After reading some reviews..I've decided to give D800 amiss. As it doesn't suit my style of photography

Shall wait for a high iso, low MP camera.

To be honest, the offering from C is very attractive for me. But C body layout does not make sense for my thumb and I'm too entrench into Nikon system.
