We have stated it before and I will say it again, this is a open forum and thus we have minors in the commuity. Nude photography is a sensitive subject and we treat it as such. I have already allowed this thread to continue in the interests of growth and development so I am not sure what you are asking (you wouldn't even see this thread if we had removed it). However, we will watch this thread v carefully, and zerofour's earlier deleted post just proves that not all in this community is mature enough to discuss this in a objective manner.

Sorry, I think in legal term, but we are NOT witnesses as we did not see the shoot. We only read about it in a forum.

This is serious issue we are discussing here, pls reframe (spelling error?) from cracking jokes here.

Do you have experience shooting nude models? If not better turn down the job. Lots of complications. If the pics dun turn out artistic but look more like prono, then Learn from a pro 1st before doing it on your own.

actually the legal implication here is privacy lor... cos if her pictures 'accidentally' falls onto the wrong hands, either from him or from the client, he might get into quite a big issue... cos nobody know how the 3rd party gets the pic, but everybody know they had seen her nude... and when things happen, ppl will just point their fingers everywhere except herself. have to know who gets the copy, the photographer should state & verify that he did not make any duplication, he will be professional to not discuss or show the pictures to a 3rd party. if film, the development of the film, where & how its done have to be negotiated, becos if send to external, possibility of duplication is there, den use own dark room, does others have access? etc... alot of complication...

on the photographer's side, have to save his own backside lor...

sit down & discuss the possible outcome, lay it clear to her the limitations, den give her a certain assurance, on her side, you also have to lay it clear that if anything happen to the photos or her reputation, you are professional (IF), you will not divulge anything... its her own things to keep. you are just a tool... thats all. dun keep such 'items' as your portfolio, unless she specifically said its ok (legal issue), or u paid her to do it.

sometimes porn & art is just 1 very thin line apart... some see it as porn, some see it as art... no clear rule...

what are the rules for photographing nudes?

this is a huge and volatile topic, so let's try to narrow the scope a little. first, we'll assume we're talking about subjects who are legally competent adults. let's also assume that you are taking photographs with the model's permission and that she has given you a valid model release. that leaves the question of whether the photos are obscene. if they are, you could be charged for violating singapore's obscenity laws.

what is obscene? the court's guidelines, if you can really call them that, are hardly more than the instinctive reactions of the people in the street:

"whether the average person, applying contemporary community standards would find the work, taken as a whole, appeals to prurient interests; whether the work depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct specifically defined by applicable singapore law; and whether the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious artistic, literary, political, or scientific value."

i've been thinking... is there a club or association that governs the 'profession' of photography in sg, like Doctors & Nurses? cos in a way, if there is no such bodies, i think any photographer just stands to lose out when things get complicated & require legal aids. or mayb i dunno about such...

and by being 'professional' i think its like most profession, you have to have your code of conduct. some basic things would be honesty, etc...

Some points for you to note:
    1) Get a model release and state clearly if you own the rights. If not, then she, as a model owns it. Make sure she is of legal age.

    2) Get a female assistant. This is spore. Even doctors need a nurse present when examining a female patient. This is to prevent any accusation of molest or rape. Of course in a real shoot you would have more than one person present... lighting, make up, assistant, etc, etc. Hmm... I think you are going solo on this one.

    3) Be professional.

    4) Take care of room temperature. Goose pimples arent too nice. Unless that's the intended effect.

Wah piang, wait he try macro/close-ups! Yup thin line. If he sees as art but model sees as porno, then got disputes.

Yes, better to save your own backside/skin first. This kinda thing can be very touchy. Unless the model is a very close/good friend of his.

    Key word here is "trust"

I guess if you'd want to post these pictures you will have to do so on photosig.com, as there are some immature members in this community.
The equipment can only bring you so far - the rest of the photographic journey is done by you.

what if the nude pics are not full frontal, not showing the face, and artistically done, like the recent nude photo exhibition in sg.

can that pass muster for being posted in CS?

I don't think any part of the Singapore Law says nude photography is legal.

Yes, nude photography it can be define as fine art or porno, it depends on the subject/theme, creator, and the viewers.

And I believe this forum is not suitable to discuss this topic openly base on various reasons, since some of the earlier replies have answer the dzulhjdzaid question. Ill end my discussion with this posting.

However, if anyone has an interest in this area, please try Photo.net, or local photography clubs.

    Cheers

in all honesty, this is a subjective call. but the general guidelines are that as long as the intimate areas and genitalia of the human body are not explicitly shown, we will allow it. However, as always, the mods reserve the right to exercise their judgment. Understand that we have to tread a very thin line between growing the community and abiding by the regulations set by local authorities.

I believe that criminal laws in Singapore are prohibitive in nature. Ie, you can do anything as long as it's not prohibited by law. the qn would then be, are there any laws in Singapore which says nude photography is illegal, rather than whether any laws which say that it is legal.

Have you had experience with nude photography? There's a couple of books at the Riceball photography bookshop on the subject, if you're looking for them.
