If used properly, it would be an unbeatable lens at its performance/price range.

70-200 has been reported better than the older 70-210.

My advice if you are using Nikon is to stick with the 80-200 AF-Dn.

Well there's really, really, really no need for the AF-S unless you have a plantation of money trees in which case just buy it. Just like there really isn't a need for HSM which isn't even as fast as AF-S anyway.

Its not a case of need, its a case of want.

Case in point - a ClubSNAP member who shall remain unnamed for now, was seriously considering the EDn version (probably about to buy it) when we introduced him to the AFS version (I know, it was real bad of us but what the hey ... moving the Singapore economy along ... ).

Needless to say, he ended up buying the AFS version - again, he didn't really need the AFS, but wanted it anyway.

i just got mine a coupla days ago, 2nd hand. initial comments, it's a bitch to carry... compared it to the Nikkor AF-S version and they weigh about the same. the HSM is quite good though, quite fast and spot-on, and very silent (as promised...). i used it with my sigma 1.4x TC, still very smooth.

snapped a couple rolls with it, can't wait to develop them.

Default like it

i have this lens and use on d100 , find it a great value for money lens , very quiet and fast.

tripod collar is removed very quick and easy ,this is good for hand hold because it gets in the way of zoom ring otherwise.

shots taken with the lens are here
