    Default Hainan Island Photography

Hello guys, I be going to Hainan Island for a week soon. Most of the time shld be staying in relatives village/kampung area.
I will like to know wad type of lens is more suitable to use in these environment.

Currently only has a basic Pentax KR with 18-55mm Kit lens. Thinking of either getting a 50-200mm zoom lens along or a DA35mm lens.

Anyone has been shooting on Hainan Island before and has any comments?
    Thanks!!

frankly, i think it is the wrong question to ask.

all depends on what your visions are.

anyway, my current thinkin is, if one can get close w wide angle, one dun need use tele. and the less one worry about equipment, the more one can focus on getting the image.

    i am hainanese .

I brought both wide and zoom lens there previously and found them both useful.

For wide lens - landscape, buildings, beaches, narrow streets, panning shots etc
For zoom lens - facial expression of people across the street, chickens in the kangpong etc

Bring both if you could carry them.

    18-55 will do fine.
Personally, I don't see much usage for 55-200, though it can be used for some portraits and landscape.

18-55mm is well suited for travel photography.
    18-24mm > wide for wide views/landscapes/environmental portraits
35-55mm > suitable for portraits, close-up, tighter shots

If you want a low light lens, then either get DA35/2.4 or FA50/1.4.

One of my usual travel kit is DA15; FA35; M85

More importantly; learn how to use you lens and camera well.
    Use a tripod if possible.
