Default S3 Pro Is Here.......

Hi guys,

For those who have been awaiting for this cam, I just saw it this morning in CP. Priced at S$4K. (Not sure if it's retail price but should be around that range) HOWEVER, all are RESERVED SETS. So guess you guys have to be patient before it is mass release to the general public.

Cheers!

Oh.... Reserved set also means that I can't get the chance to play around with it....

Who's buying it anyway??

S$4k...close to the D2h price range (S$4.5k). Which one is a better buy?

i'll wait till it hits 3k and below. the only thing i'm looking for in the S3 is the dynamic range. everything else sucks badly for it to be over 3k.

Brother Clown, then wait for the D200 replacement lor. Unless you feel that the dynamic range is what you are really looking for.

i realised that dynamic range is very important esp for someone like me cuz i take a lot of landscapes. i hate blown out skies.
i've seen the result of some hacked f570 raw files and it looked promising. dunno if the camera can take a step further by producing a better image from the increased DR

i think that's a very good estimate cuz of the upcoming D2x which will almost totally surpass the D2h. if the price remain the same, nobody will buy it.

Hi Clown, ermm..... pardon my ignorance, but what is "dynamic range" and how is it important for landscapes?

it's the ability of the camera (sensor) to capture details in otherwise totally overexposed areas or underexposed areas.

Yup, correct.... thought D2H price dropped a lot recently.
Just hope that is will have a sensor upgrade.

Seen that S3 Pro example on dpreview with that pic of a bride with gown standing in front of a long dark bridge. Amazing! Gown can see and the insides of the bridge also can see.
