The second pix is excellent. Very sharp and great postures. See if MCDS wants to buy your photo for promoting family togetherness.

Quite a bit of background clutter in both pics. Might do good to crop the 1st one to portrait format, and to a tighter crop of the 2nd pic and lose the distracting bit of the leaf on the foreground.

Ya, the real problem of animal shots in zoo is the background. We can do very little regarding this matter unless shooting very selectively.

2nd shot is very lovely emotionally. It would have been a winner if taken at wide

I agree with Ckiang about the cluttered background, otherwise, they are very nice photos. Why didn't you try F2.8 instead of F8.0?

At that distance, f2.8 does not provide enough DOF in many cases.

I pefer a tighter crop on the Gorilla focusing more of the facial/head. I feel that the surrounding are unnecesary to show that love caring feeling.

Thanks for the comments and tips ... I seldom crop my shot and post for critique but I will go back again to re-take it for better composition ...

dun think f2.8 can have enough DOF to get the monkey in focus

You should crop. Don't believe the bs that some people give you about cropping being taboo, cropping is cheating, etc. Cropping can help make a pic better. It's an art.
