One of the new area for development which is purely residential. There are no plans for industrial factories to be setup there. Meaning to say, you won't get FTs loitering around neighourhood in the near future. Demographics of neighbours will most likely be similar - Singaporean young couples. Which means there is less chance of conflict due to cultural/habit differences. Punggol is just beside Sengkang, which has a rather developed town center by now. Even if there are a lack of amenities within Punggol one can just hope by Sengkang. A lot of people are complaining that there is a lack of facilities in Punggol, but let's bear this in mind - facilities will slowly and surely start coming up as the town itself gets more and more developed.

I wondering how next gen going to get a flat when the price so high and yet, our salary so low. Totally out of balance! On top of that, prices of other source also increase and volume decreasing. I think it's time to stock maggi mee! I ever told a guy (20+), fast go ROM, price wouldn't stays for long. haha! Anyway, I got a house myself but I still paying for it. Maybe 15 yrs later, I then can manage to clear the loan in 1 go.
    Only Sony device mostly, haha!

My English boss says Singapore property seems ridiculously high, but it seems we are coping well..

Their pay high, but tax also very high (40% +-). But housing which most of our pay goes to service our loan, is so much lower there.

have there been instances of the 99 years lease being enforced, or has it been majority en-bloc (sers) before lease is up?

something to consider. and there is quite a big difference. one u still get money back, which is still a form of inheritance, whilst the former is u get no money back.

All residents displaced by the redevelopment works are offered a new 99-year lease in new flats constructed nearby. These residents have the privilege to select their units prior to public release of the remaining units, are compensated financially, and are given subsidised prices for their new flats, as well as other benefits, such as the being able to purchase flats in other locations under the same benefits offered for all affecting residents who purchase the offered replacement units.

en-bloc of course have. recently there's one such incident somewhere in Bugis area. kekekeke

u cannot deny the fact that the 99yrs lease is... a cause for concern regardless of how the argument goes BUT most of us still willingly paid for it. hurhurhur!

yep. but enforcing it is almost political suicide whoever does kick ppl out of their hard paid houses, next election straight lose.

kinda like the gay clause really. never ever enacted, only used for against child rape situations so far.
