Looking for hi-speed CF cards for my S602Z. Saw Kingston Elite-pro CF cards, but wonder if S602Z is too old a model to keep up to high speeds??

No point high speed, the limit is on the camera. And can only use FAT16.

Does anyone else have this problem? My S602z has read/write error after using with the CF card for about 15 mins. Or is the problem with the CF card? In the end, have to stick to SM card which I understand is being phased out (and which only comes in 128mb)....sigh...

There is no benefit gained by using ultra fast cards.
I have used: Kodak, Sandisk and Fuji cards with no problem. Only when I used a brand I have never heard of before and was very cheap, I had problems "it was too slow." Out of interest, I have been told that there are only 3 makers of most memory cards. A point in this direction is I have stocks of XD cards from Sandisk in Sandisk boxes, but the cards have the usual Fuji logo etc on them. Does anyone have views on this ![]()

I don't really mind, but where and when to meet? My work ties me down rather successfully most of the time. BTW, the NCP is about 2 years old.
It is possible that your CF card has bad sectors, why don't you do a format on your PC then scan disk? |

yowch, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it and see if it works. My only worry is if the problem lies with the camera, then even if I buy new CF cards also won't work.

Actually I'm trying to use the S602Z to take video clips. Most of my current CF cards (Transcend, TwinMOS) will stop recording after maybe 30s or less.
Any recommendations to which CF card can record long vids? (VGA)

My guess is that the write speeds of the cards you are using amy be a bit too slow I have heard of Transcend but don't know them; I have never heard of TwinMOS. They might be OK speed wise for photo's, but, maybe not fast enough for video From what I have tried I can suggest Kodak CF cards (don't know who really manufactures them). Fuji cards are good also. Sandisk definately.

loboclerk,
TwinMos is an ok brand, more well known for the RAM than memory cards. Personally I would pick TwinMos over NCP if given a choise.. Do note that the normal speed CF cards are not fast enough to capture long videos. I'm using a cheap (normal) Kingston 256mb CF and video length is limited to 37secs. As a side note, I can capture around 112secs of video on my 128mb SM. If u want to capture long videos, get a fast CF card.. As mentioned by Pablo, Sandisk Ultra II is good, just don't get the normal speed Sandisk as they are slow as well. |
