Need help on Scanner resolution

Need help on this question: Does a flatbed scanner with a resolution of 2400x4800 be able to re-produce a well taken slide fit for a pretty good 8R print out? Thanks for any response.

Opticle resolution is 2400dpi, that means that there are 2400 pixels in an inch,
So an 8 inch picture will have 300dpi, which is good.
But it depend on your scanning skill.

2400 dpi means it can scan up to 2400 pixels per inch of whatever you are scanning. So a 8 inch picture will yield a total of 19200 pixels.
