Thanks. My monitor's set to 7000K, believe 6400K should be ok too as i am going to print them out soon.

The not so nice ones are jpgs. (and notice that they are very contrasty after correcting, could only bump up a bit using curves). The nice ones were from RAW.

Great shots! Do yourself (and us) a favor and pay for a pbase membership... it's cheap, cheap!

sigma 70-200 f2.8 but do note that it is him who took the photos, not the camera or lens.

I understand that. I am just impressed by the sharpness which I think the lens does play an important role. As for the composition and exposure, I will give credit to the photographer.

Thanks for the kind comments people.

r52lanc : Would love to pay USD 23 to pbase, but network speed is still too slow for their site.

gryphon/xmen2003 : Yup, mpenza said it, sigma 70-200, pretty standard lens. If you need it, get a 2nd hand. A better body like 8fps and very fast AF would be heaven, of course. Like a D2X, if i could get it in the future, . On the photog's side, just be always on the ball and anticipate.

Asheley : My wife and I were also like supporting Mindy. But right from the preview, we already had some feeling that she wouldn't be the winner eventually, and i suspect that from her facial expression she knew it then too. Oh well, guess it's for the fun of it and experience (according to the gals who has gone through it b4). And i believe she is also the hot fav of many people there and also the photographers (burst like siao ).

Mpenza/Zplus/mEc : Still waiting for your pics, if possible.

It's not easy to be standing up there smiling for the judges and have so many pairs of eyes scrutinising you, esp if you are in swimsuit and you do not have prior modelling experience. I do very much admire their guts.

So here's a special tribute to Mindy again :
ISO400, 1/200, 180mm, f2.8, no sharpening, 100% crop.

Desmond,

Nice pics there. The Sigma 70-200 2.8 is a great lens. Used to own one before. These were shot on monopod I presume?

I thought Mindy should win for the Ms SG world 2004, IMO.

Used to own one....so now your lens changed to 300/2.8 or...?

I shot on monopod during Preview, found that the 234RC swivel head combo is too slow during usage. This is not the same compared to fashion shows (just 1 catwalk runway). Need a ballhead for faster action but monopod + ballhead feels a bit funny so i brought my tripod for the finals. It's more for support as it was a 2+ hour show.

Oic....well sometimes due to space constraints at this type of events monopod is preferred. Definitely can't handhold for 2 hours sia (even if the lens is IS/VR) So ur 50-500 'retired' from event shoot liao?

Yah now using a long prime...need to fill in the 70-200 gap with something...either Sigma or Canon. No hurry to buy tho...
