    Thumbs up 24-70mm f2.8 or 28-70mm f2.8??

needed an experts point of view on this because i'm caught in between..

both almost same coverage but 24-70mm touted to take over the 28-70..
question is whats your opinion on both, if anyone had tried both in terms of performance and weight??

btw, 24-70mm will be first hand if i were to get it and the 28-70 will be 2nd hand if i were to get it..
advisable for 2nd hand or die die first hand??

The 28-70 f/2.8 is beefier with wider girth as compared to the 24-70 f/2.8. In terms of performance, have you checked online reviews yet? Furthermore, the 24-70 is the successor to the 28-70 f/2.8. This should tell you pretty much what to expect if you compare the newer 24-70 f/2.8 against the older 28-70 f/2.8

This is something you decide yourself. Some don't mind 2nd hand, while some do.

I'd go for the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED. Its image quality is superior, and at that price range, I'd consider absolute performance over value - you don't save too much getting the older lens, but you do give up some quality.

The newer one is better YES, but really only "great" in the 35-70mm range. ( I just sold mine 2 days ago ).

I've just got the 35 f1.4G Nikkor to add to my existing 24 and 85 f1.4G's

    Cheers.

I thinks so also, lets you think about the photograph, move with your feet, and allows more creativity...... and for me just more fun

The new Nikkors are pretty amazing also

hmm.. i think primes are fantastic.. I've had my 50mm for 2 years and i love it.. and i've been thinking of the zoom lens because i wanna do wedding photography and i wouldn't have the luxury of using my feet so much because malay solemnisation are usually done at home.. thats why i thought of a zoom instead.. now you got me thinking of getting 24mm instead, Dfive and GReddy..

And thanks Blur Shadow for your insight.. it definitely got me thinking of buying first hand lens..
