    Default Cement split(?) in lens

Went to TCW yesterday and asked for lens cleaning, but a lady took a look and said something about cement split, then said cannot clean.
I assume that the glue/coating between the 2 front elements finally failed, but what's the reason for not cleaning? Is it because cleaning would be useless, or is it because it's very tricky to handle such damage?

Any option available besides buying a new one?

U might wish to tell us the make, model of your lens and also, how old it is. Also, info like where it has been used, or under what conditions it has been used or stored. With more info, some of us might be able to help.
I love big car, big house, big lenses, but small apertures.
