    Cool Walk Around Lense

Hi Guys, I would like to seek your advise for the best walk around lense that suits from wide to zoom with a medium quality. The price must not reach 500 SGD. Second thing can you give advise on the what flash suits with this lense. I don't mind third party brands as long as easy on the budget that gives better quality.

Thanks in advance for future responses.

Without you specifying the brand/model of your camera, it is very difficult to suggest any lens/flash based on your budget.

Just use your kit lens, it fits your requirement. Any flash will do, it's how you use it that matters

    Kit lens = best!
Next better lens I can think of cost $700: tamron 17-50

Flash, i believe you should be referring to speedlite. All speedlites work/suit all lenses.

How about Tamron 18mm-200mm and canon 18mm-135mmwhich among these 3 suits for walk around lense?

is there any reason why u can't "walk around" with your kit lens? 18-55 is a great walkabout range.

superzoom lenses, i dun like. i seldom use the long end and when i have to, i find it too slow - aperture too small. i never found them useful at all.

Canon 18-135 is good as well as the tamron 18-200mm are one of the 2 suitable lens for a walkabout...u can consider 2nd hand lens in the Canon buy/sell forum...As for flashes can consider the yongnuo brand or nissin Di622 mk 2 or Di866 mk 2 if money is ur concern. If not,(Canon 580ex II) is the other option...Good,ard $600 odd but heavy...able to last a long long time though...Get what u nid n not what u think u nid...Cheers!

Firstly, it's a LENS (plural = LENSES), not LENSE.

Secondly, "walk around" is pretty vague actually.
Some people prefer to walk around with a UWA.
Some people prefer to walk around with a wide-to-mid-tele zoom.
Some people prefer to walk around and photograph others from afar, so their preference leans towards long tele lenses.

Thirdly, what's wrong with the kit lens?
    Exploring! :)

i think funan challenger actually made the same mistake. next time i visit i will check =D

ANYHOW. i'm guessing by his 'walk-around' lens, he means that he wants a general purpose lense that has a bit of everything. and ta-da! that's what canon gave you the 18-55 for! also featuring is the 18-135! the one with the most finctionality as a kit lens is the 18-200, but that exceeds your budget even as secondhand. since you only want "medium quality" i guess the 17-50 non-vc/vc might suit your needs.

meh. ever heard of 70-200 f2.8L IS MARKII? - whoops this is not a super zoom!

Did TS mention that this is what he wants advice on?

    Is it within his budget?

Is the focal range THAT useful on crop?

Does it fit his needs for something that is "wide to zoom"?

Do you actually read before you reply?

70-200mm isn't considered superzoom. It's less than 3x zoom while lens like Tamron 18-200mm is >11x zoom.
