I just sold my D200 with a MB200 grip and 18-55VR lens last night to a buyer who is buying on behalf for a friend. Camera still have around 3 weeks of shop warranty as it was bought 2nd hand and buyer bargained abit which I agreed to the price. This morning, he asked if can refund as his friend does not want it anymore. How will you react?

I don't see how this has to do with the topic, but I would ask him if there is problem with the camera.

If there is no problem, then it's a done deal and you have no obligation to refund him. Cheers.

Sometimes it depend where buyers and sellers take reference for their prices.

For example a new lens is selling for $2000, seller priced his 1 year old just out of warranty lens at $1700 feeling $300 off is fair. However, same new gray set with shop warranty can be had for $1700 too and buyer feel $200 off this price is fair. There is obviously a big difference in perception.

I believe many have seen used sets without warranty asking for price close to new gray set with shop warranty, some even above! So what do we call these sellers? Ignorant?

    example Panansonic LX5

    A post to sell at $500 with 1 - 2 months warranty
B call to buy at $350

is it low-baller? beware that now brand new LX5 is only 530

frankly speaking, going by the price asking in the resale forum, we can't blame having many 'low-baller'

those seller are asking ridiculous selling price!!!

    There is an inherent conflict

seller can't afford to take loss so quote unrealistic price.

buyer can't/won't pay unrealistic prices for 2nd hand goods so low ball lor

but it becomes habitual so even when a fair price is quoted, habit is to counter offer with a 60% discount *LOL*

Everyone wants to maximise gains & minimise losses, minimise risks & maximise returns. Unless the B&S is like a fixed price store, prices will fluctuate, reasonably or unreasonably, as in a free market. Who is to independently value & determine what the price of an item should be? Really it is a just a case of willing buyer willing seller.

My personal opinion is that many are so used to fixed prices they lost the art of bargaining or skills of negotiation, so they look at these offers/counter offers, with disdain, even repulsion. I noted some sellers get upset & offend easily if they are offered a lower price thats not up to their expectations. Even though they could have easily avoided any unpleasantness by stating simply & clearly in their posts that prices are firmed, fixed &/or non-negotiable, that any counter offers or offers lower than $XXX would be ignored. Buyers will always hunt for a good bargain To avoid wasting my time entertaining dealers (who buy at rock bottom prices & sell at sky high prices) when I am selling, I just make sure buyers pm me & I do some background checks.

can't we have a minimum post count set before we can even visit the B&S?

For me, dealers or not, if they meet my price, I sell. Just have to stay firm on your own prices, and your baseline.

It is useless. You will just see some new members posting nonsense to get post count up enough to go BnS.

doesn't change anything lah... what does posting 2000 - 3000 messages prove other than the fact that the person has a lot of time and likes to spend time here?

such a person can still be unrealistic when selling stuff and a terrible lowballer when buying stuff what...
