Exclamation Nikon D100 ~ S$3600 at Harvey Normans

Was surprised when a colleague told me he bought a D100 from Harvey Normans on Saturday and he only paid S$3,600 (inclusive GST) for it.

And he also took advantage of a 12-month interest-free scheme from UOB for an extra 3.5%.

So, all in all, the cost of the D100 was S$3,600 + 3.5% = S$3,726.00

A good deal or what?!? From Harvey Normans?!? This must be a first.....

Harvey Norman does give good deals - esp this Jan
when they celebrated Australia Day [AU Nat'l Day]

stores like Harvey Norman, Best Denki may offer
instalment plans ... that's a plus

so next time we must check everywhere -->
CP, AP ... Harvey Norman ... ... Mustaffa [?]

I'll be starting school soon, so no time to do freelance work. Besides, I don't even know where to start...think if I just eat cereal everyday for every meal, I should be able to save for a DSLR in maybe...4 months? Provided I dont die of malnutrition first...

Really? Oh, when I said school I meant uni, but from what I hear some of my friends, UNI isn't as free as ppl think...but then again since I'm gonna study in Melbourne things might be different?

If I'm not wrong, it should come with the standard accessories and w/o lens.

ah ... uni ... in Oz somemore ... well, i think you may find that you have more time than you think ... just ask around CS, there are a couple of ppl who are currently studying there now.

Gosh, when I think back to my uni time, I wish I was back in those good old days - every weekend was a blast, always at the movies or some party, weekdays only go classes 3 days out of 5 (less in winter ), went travelling and take pics, play computer games on my Atari ST (hint: that shows how old I am ). Ah reminescence.....

Hahaha
Well, I went to Melbourne for about a week recently and saw how expensive electronic equipment could be, especially digital cameras. Was considering brining a camera or 2 over to sell and earn some extra pocket money.

oh yes aussie prices are quite scary. even duty-free prices are about equal to what they would retail for here. very scary. i was toying with the idea of getting some camera stuff when i was there studying as well, but gave up the thought. too painful to part with extra money... forced my frens back in SG to bring me films and stuff when they were coming.

qhelix, you should check out eBay AU just to get a feel of what you can sell off a camera there for... but it's worth a thought. wish i thought of that before i went to study... ;P

ok people i think we're going waaaaaay OT here, what with irish chicks and Atari machines...ok ok i admit i'm guilty too. but to bring back to the topic, anyone know if Harvey Normans only offers the UOB interest-free scheme? any other banks like stanchart?

also, i'm a little confused about the 3.5%...if it's interest-free, what's the 3.5% for?

It's a service fee of 3.5% of transaction amount per transaction. The service fee will be charged in full with the first instalment bill and is not refundable.

If you use a Standard Chartered Credit card. it's only 3% under their EasyPay plan.

I'm very tempted to buy....

You can pay by Standard Chart CC in full amount. Than call up to activate the Easypay plan. As long your purchase is above $500, they don't care where you buy it from.
