Do you know if it's ok to ask the normal photolabs to dev negs only and produce contact print, but not make any prints out from them? I want to scan the negs, PS them before actually making the prints.

yeah i think there's such services
for high quality scanning,look for Kex...loads of CSers recommend him think mkt rate is something like $6 per roll |

The lab will do color correct and enhancement before burn the image files into cd, just like the way they make prints. If they just give you a straight scan without any color correction and enhancement, go some way else for your scanning.
By the way scan a cut negative is more expansive, try to scan a few rolls in one go, the scanning fee should including index print. |
