Default What Accessories For Speed Lite?

Hi everybody, I've been taking photos for about a few mths now.
Just wanna get some advice from the experienced ppl here in CS on what accessories to get if there is no way to bounce flash off the walls etc?
Heard of good comments for Stofen Omnibounce, Gary Fong etc but also got quite a few ppl criticise them. Thus, I'm in a dilemma. Haha.
Will a simple bounce card do the trick?

Btw, I'm using D7000 with SB-900. Thanks in advance.

The SB900 has a built in bounce card, doesn't it? If that is inadequate, you may want to consider LumiQuest Pocket Bouncer - LumiQuest or Special Offers: Honl Photo Baby Bounce Kit | Cathay Photo.

Wow, thanks for prompt reply. Yup SB-900 comes with an in built bounce card but I find that a substantial amount of light is lost so was thinking of getting some accessories to minimise the lost of light yet, get sufficient soft lighting on the subject.
In some situations, the in built bounce card could not produce enough bounce light. This is also another reason that I'm considering getting an extra accessory. Ok thanks. Will look through ur suggestions.

However, a qns from me; What's the diff between Diffusers and Bounce? Thanks

Both are used to spread the throw of the light and the resulting light will be softer than if direct from the flash. There are numerous debates which work better and I would rather not go into that. Try them out and see what suit you.

Try looking up Rogue Flashbenders. You might find its multi-purpose nature appealing.

I think if you look at a diffuser and a bounce card, you should be able to figure out (with little effort) the difference between them in terms of how they work

There are some YouTube videos on quality of light, and how the size of the light source relative to the subject affects the 'harshness' of the light.
    Exploring! :)

If anyone's interested, I have a friend selling his for only $55. Used very very sparingly. PM me for his number. Thanks.

I'm definitely not professional, and only starting out with flash photography, but I've noticed that at many events (mostly cosplays) that most people make their own reflectors, since it's rather easy.

And why not make your own if you're new to flash photography as well? I'm sure you'll discover your needs and wants better that way while being very light on your pocket as well!

I personally use a corrugated white plastic board which you can get from popular (small one is $1.6, big is $3.2), cut it out into A4 size, attach a rectangular piece down as a handle and velcro that to the flash. I paste a sheet of aluminium foil on the A4 card and put a blank white A4 piece of paper over that. Works very well for me, but it shifts your colour temperature a little higher, so I usually use the "indoor shade" preset on my camera which is about 7000k instead of the flash preset.

Haha. True. I'm planning to try to DIY my own gary fong lightsphere too Just an Ikea drawer mat and velcro. Only afraid of colour cast but should not be a problem for photoshop LOL !!!

If you worry about colour cast, just cover it with a standard A4 plain paper, and use a indoor shade (7000K) white balance. Works for me very well, so I don't have to care about what material I use to build my reflectors =D
