Default Metz 54-MZ4 and 20D

Not sure if this is old news. Metz has finally upgraded the SCA3102 M3 adapter to work with the 20D which means HSS, E-TTL, 2nd curtain sync etc are all available now! Yoo hoo!

Just wonder if the upgrade is free

Default Metz 54-MZ4 and 20D

Hi,

currently deciding whether to purchase Metz 54MZ-4 or Canon 580EX, have post a thread on that (Canon 580EX vs Metz 54MZ-4) lots of view but got no reply...

do you have any advice on these?

By the way, got an email from Metz, asking me to refer to local agent Jebsen&Jebsen regarding upgrading M2 adaptor to be compatible with 1DMK2 & 20D bodies...will let you know when got info...

cool! I have a Metz 54 just sitting there. Only used once :-). Hope to be able to use it soon. Currently using a 550EX. I like the warmth of the Metz flash better. Dials on the 54 better than 550 IMHO but 580EX is a different animal altogether. Besides bulb life longer on Metz I think

My understanding is that it is a firmware fix. Bogen in the US are upgrading the SCA 3102 for free apparently, via firmware fix. Wonder if Jebsen and Jebsen would do it?

Cheers,

I've just done that. Also, see my other thread on this, give Mr Wong in the "service" department of Jebsen and Jessen a call. Suffice to say he didn't seem particularly interested to to help, maybe needs a little "persuasion".

The guy from Metz asked to keep the message confidential. Suffice to say that they have sent a note to J&J Singapore. I had also followed up with a couple more calls to J&J, and hopefully, after a lot of "persuasion" from me, they are going to do something about it. Honestly, I feel like I've had to do their jobs for them; getting in touch with Metz, speaking to the tech department here, talking to the sales and marketing manager, linking the 2......very little interest from anybody there to take up the issue and provide any semblance of customer "service".

Would appreciate if other Metz users here could also lend their voices a little, you know, strength in numbers. PM me for the names and numbers to call.

Cheers,

I made a call yesterday to J&J.

The guy I spoke to say they are looking into it. Can't remember his name...

Fellow Metz 54 users.....<pause for dramatic effect>.......you can now upgrade your shoe to the M3 version! Just bring it down to Jebsen and Jessen at Corporation road, and look for Mr. Wong. You will not believe what a comedy of errors had occurred between J&J and Metz. Thanks also to frenzatwork for helping to pursue this.

Cheers,
