Welcome to Lumix World!!!
SD card prices are falling. Last week, a Kingmax 512mb high speed card is selling at $86. Normal speed Kingston 512mb at $68. Read other thread for more info.

I am using Kingston normal speed. Works fine so far. But burst mode is so so.
Am planning to get Kingmax Extreme 1gb. Currently it's $169. Might accumulate two 512mb instead. There are other suitable brands, but expensive.

As for third partry battery, it's around $25~$28. May be cheaper now. However, third party batteries lasted about 160 pics only, whereas original Panasonic battery can last 260 pics. Note this is based on my usage of using evf at all time with ocassional toggle to lcd to check pic. One battery was sufficient for my Airport shots for about 2.5 hrs, power-on through out.

Original battery is expensive. Not sure it's price though!

Update. KingMax 512MB is holding steady at $86. However, the 1GB has dropped to $155.

Thanks for the update! Looks like will get the 1gb instead, unless the 512mb price drops too.

Hope it drops real fast coz I'll be travelling next month.

The distributor is Bescom. There's a sticker on the card with a number to do online warranty registration.
