    My theory. U cant reach 5k or any major improvement unless u job hop!!!
    assue u get 2k basic... every year at most 300 / 400 increase. so u need 10years??? thats long long....
    normally ppl job hop... assue u get 2k as an executive in company A. when u jump to B, they might offer u assistant manager post , maybe 3k liao. ETC ETC

    the above happens to my frens... but not for me yet... so i cant 100% gurantee yet :P

    Another way of earning extra income is to do a 2nd job. There are so many Network Marketing firms nowadays. Just get into any firm with a good reputation and work your way up. Even if you fail, you still have your full time job.

    But as a network marketer, its similar as doing sales. The amt of effort put in is directly proportional to your income. It is different in a way whereby there is a chance to attain a continuos income even when you are not working. (Financial freedom as they call it) Wheres in Sales or other 'Iron Bowl' jobs, once you stop working, the income dies off.

    Hi everyone!

    I think most of us miss the point.

    Is not the amount of money you are getting but the amount of happyness you are getting.

    If you don't like your job, every minute is killing you. You may take your 5K or 10K to purchase the most expensive toy you want but you have to endure that killing hours in your office. Your performance will not likely be good and your future will be limited too.

    If you like your job, you may ever do it for free (but don't tell your boss).

    If you are in the cross juction now, decide carefully.

    Once you have car/house/childred, you can't afford to charge line unless you are prepare to start allover again at very must lower $.

    Do you want the rest of you say...10..20..30 years, doing what you don't like?

    Anyone agreed?

    Example : If you like to play computer game, you can be :

    1) the person who design the game.
    2) the person who test the game.
    3) the person who market the game.

    In each and every one of this 3, if you are good enough, you will be paid more the 5K. If you know the "game of this business" enough, you can be your own boss and the sky is the limit.

    Default need vs greed

    I think the importance of that 5K pay here is that we're all comapring a higher income with our current expenditure.

    I current get 700/mth and I'm looking at my friends with 3k and I'm like when to reach 3k.. but my friends at 3K are complaining they dun have enough to use!

    When I reach 3K I would most probably be paying installments all over the shop. Then I'll start to think.. if only I have 5K..

    I still strongly believe that you have to be at the right place at the right time.

    There are lots of ppl (infact most ppl) wants to be rich all their life...but they are just not going anywhere.

    5K is not really a big deal considering the cost of living. If you earn 5K and is the sole income earner, that sum isn't that big. I think to have a fairly decent (not rich) life in S'pore, you'll need at least 10K in combined income.

    If you are willing to work hard, sacrifice your weekends and don't mind working in an non-aircond environment, $5k shouldn't be a problem....

    How? Sell chicken rice ...

    Calculation:
    1pack = $2
    500packs/day =$1000/day (very conservative estimate)
    1mth=$1000*30=$30K

    Deduct:
    Raw goods =$10K (roughly)
    Rent =$10K/mth
    Overheads(water/electricity/sanitary etc) = $500/mth
    Employee salary =$2K
    Misc =$500
    Total =$23K

    Monthly salary(yours)=$30K-$23K=> $7K.

    That's 1st year salary too
    Condition: right location, human traffic, advertisement & NO bird flu

    U need to sell 1000 packs of chicken rice a day to earn that amt dude. Right now u'll have a deficit of 27k per mth
