Default First Impressions : Canon 1DX

we were able to gets our hands on a prototype to play with

"It is actually quite light compared to the 1ds 1. 2 and 3 " but this is only a prototype so nothing is cast in stone

We were lucky enough to run into David Yeo from Canon Sigapore while in Ho Chi Min city on Thurs 10 Nov at a local photographer's waterin hole

Had a good hour or so to get our hands on feel for it

It was one of 5 prototypes with basic functions and disabled to load a CF card .... We understand from David that review units will be available in Jan 2012

Build quality is of course the same as the Canon 1d series and first look at the dials, buttons placements and user interface will reveal few surprises ....those possibly moving to the 1dx from 1d or 1ds bodies will likely have a pretty smooth transition ....it'll almost like fish taking to water

The comparison of specs is available online at the usual camera forums

From what we could quickly see.....the extras

    BACK
1 an additional joystick (felt a little sensitive and one joystick too many for comfort IMHO )
2 a direct live view button (love that)
3 a Q button for quick function access
4 a flash exposure Lock button

    FRONT
    1. 2 Pairs (4 total) of buttons right of lens mount next to the handgrip that are supposed to be customizable and allows for both vertical and horizontal orientations

Sorry we did not have any image files to inspect how the new sensor performs with the DIGIC 5 engine so no comments there

A beautifully built body that's for sure that makes life for the photog more efficient but not built from the ground up like its other rivals recently
