Another step by step procedure.
Remove the screw holding the contact pins Remove the 4 screws on the metal mount The metal mount could not be removed totally Must remove the black plastic cover first. It is attached only by clip, be careful not to damage these 4 plastic clips

Remove the FPC connected to the PCB
Remove the screw holding the PCB, then remove the PCB (handle carefully to avoid ESD) Remove the 3 screws in front of the barrel Then you can remove the front ring and focusing ring Remove the metal switch for distance encoder

There are ways to avoid forgetting the sequence: you can separate each screws, you can use my post, you can take photos of each step and so on...
Last option: contact 98151974, just don't loose any parts Or you can quit without saving ![]() Use gaffer tape or other colored tape ![]() May I ask, why would somebody hide the red ring when it's obvious that you're using an L lens? In fact, I know some guys who puts a red tape on their ordanary lens to make it look like an "L" try searching for the word "cleanroom" in this forum

Back to topic:
Remove the 3 screws (around the front barrel) holding the white spacers Now you can remove the inner part

The lens got fungus. Need to access the inner parts to clean
Why post? 1. Passing basic knowledge for DIY wannabes 2. I'm just like other photographers here. Some shoot models, some shoot insects, some shoot landscape and so on. Me, I shoot what's inside the lens. There are a lot of good photographers here that if I post my ordinary shots, nobody will pay attention. With this kind of post, some DIY wannabes will pay attention
