Need some advice.
I was taking some photos and halfway through, it just stopped. The auto focus stopped functioning. I switch to manual focus and it worked for another few shots. Now it only works with Live View. Any idea if it is a lens prob, body prob or ??? Appreciate any advice or old birds to point me in é right direction. |

Before you go there, perhaps you can take the battery out of the camera, leave it for 5 min. and put it back. See if you still have the same problem. If you continue to have the problem, then the next step should be a visit to CSC.

But, if this happen more often than you prefer, you should go CSC to check it out, especially if it is still under warranty. Let CSC fix the problem once and for all.

I'm also a 450d user... i also experience the same thing but in my case an error appeared in my LCD screen. I just forgot he Error #. What i did is i removed the battery.. then placed it again after a minute or 2...
I think in case, since you loose the Focusing capability, the lens got loosen. just tighten the lens upon attaching it and try cleaning the contact points of your lens and body... maybe there is just a loose connection... if symptoms persist consult your vendor or a canon service center.. heheheheGood luck and keep shooting. ![]() |

i'm using a 450D too.. the autofocus on the 18-55mm EF-s lens started giving problems last evening.. this morning it got worse! Had to move the focusing ring around then half-press the shutter to get the autofocus going again. I also noticed that the autofocus doesn't work when i zoom the lens. I'm trying to get it working again by trying all the solutions posted here.. Hope it works. I really need it to work..
