hi i am using 500d now , after got a feel of a friend 50D somehow felt in luv with the 50D for the build and lcd screen .and solid shutter feel .
i know its not much difference for the specs eg. faster shutter speed , body . how about performce any one can share who own both of them before . should i just keep my 500d or upgrade cheers |

Do you need the faster shutter speed? Nicer shutter sound should not be one of the reason why you want to upgrade IMO...
From what you have listed so far, I would say keep your 500D...

is there any feature that would immediately help you in your photography? (e.g. higher continuous fps)
If yes, then go ahead and upgrade and reap the benefits of the better features. If no, continue the practice with the current body. I have resisted all opinions to upgrade to the 7D and sticking with my 450D.

Yes. Please upgrade to 50D... but an advice, do keep 500D as 2nd camera at the moment.. just an advice

Camera body value falls so quickly and after a couple of years, your backup camera will be worth near to nothing. Why not get some money out of it and put it into a new lens or your new camera body?

thanks all for advice
guess it all depend if i need the speed or the extra functions that i need .....but answer is no , just for the build and handling . i dont need 2 body just a hobby not for working . guess still to what i have and max out my camara potential would be greatly better ![]() |

50D no video, not much of an upgrade for you.

50d has no video. Image quality almost same as 500d.
So if you already have 500d no need to upgrade.

Buy 7d instead, upgrading from 500d to 50d won't feel much different.
