very attractive... actually there is an increasing number of photogs who go the route of CZ primes. chris weeks himself swears by them.

its too bad sony has an exclusive with CZ for the AF lenses.

regardless this 35mm would be popular for street photography which somewhat promotes MF itself.

personally i thought it would be weird to not have AF, but believe me all it takes is getting used to.... and you actually appreciate photography better. The same reason why some photographers still shoot film today

I tried both the CZ 50 and 85 and the manual focusing does need some time to get used to. But sometimes u'll need AF for quicker situations such as moments shots.

I will collect these ZE if I have enough dough. They are well built, nice to hold, a joy to use, handle distortion better for WA, makes your subject pops out for tele and last a life time. Just take a look at those older Contax lenses. For now I am contend collecting the Contax version. Already got the 28/2.8, 85/1.4. Waiting for 35/1.4, 100/2 and 21/2.8 to appear.

once you really understand your lens well enough... focusing is actually quite natural. Truth is many photographers in the post-AF period don't. They are over-reliant on their tools. Also I replace my original focus screen with a split-screen.

I think another reason is that I shoot with film too (eos 50), and the AF sucks. Although you can do MF on a canon lens, it cannot compare with a true MF lens.

And when they do appear, they are not available. What's the problem with Americans? They don't seem to like to deal internationally.

I used to shoot film for many years but are on a EOS 500 and EOS 30 so all are automatic SLRs in which i'm too used to AF, even though i do use MF once in a while depending on situation.

Agree on your second statement and yes, the CZ lenses MFs very smoothly.

Also I do videography on my 5D Mk II, where the AF is useless. And the Zeiss bokeh... esp when you're doing tracking/panning and slow focus shots is

But after comparing the 50's bokeh with my canon one wide open, quite similar.
